Hey everyone, need some help here. For the past few days I am facing a weird problem with my PC. First, when I turn my PC on it boots and starts fine with every fan spinning but I get no display on my monitor and it just sits on standby. I don't see the motherboard splash screen too as the monitor never comes out of standby mode. I have tried isolating almost every factors, my monitor and HDMI cable is fine since it worked with my friend's laptop. Then I noticed that my PSU Corsair VS 650 is making a slight crackling noise whenever the power is turned on. The problem is intermittent, I faced this a couple weeks ago and problem went away by itself along with the noise. Today I faced the problem again and the noise is back too, the display came back after leaving the power on for a while before starting the PC.Also the noise seems to be bit more loud today.
Does anybody know what's going on? 🙁 I need my PC everyday and replacing the PSU is one giant pain. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks. PSU is three years old.

well I can tell you that if you dont replace that dying PSu,. it may decide to go from capacitor noises to properly shorting out and take your motherboard, cpu and ram out with it last dying breath, psu a pain to change, sure, but think how much more a pain it will be when the psu dies and you have to change everything. and maybe even loose all your data on your drives.

change the PSU, its about to properly die on you.

If you have power problems *and* a crackling noise from the PSU, your PC should never be turned on again with that PSU installed. Replacing the PSU is a pain; what would be a giant pain is if the PSU, which is giving you fair warning, fries one of your components and you have to then figure out what works and what doesn't through the slow and possibly costly process of trial-and-error.

Three years is a decent run for a mediocre PSU like the Corsair VS. To get a PSU that has higher odds of lasting a long time necessitates a larger investment in the PSU, especially if you do stressful activities such as overclocking and gaming (you don't specify your use or your other components).

Nobody can without dissecting your PSU. A crackling sound is a non-specific symptom, likely but not definitely some kind of electric arcing. Using a PSU in this state comes with a high risk of damaging your other components, if you haven't already.

Do you have any suggestions for me? Like which brand should I buy to avoid such things in future? I use my PC for gaming, video editing and running some VFX related apps along with other casual tasks. The GPU and CPU are heavily used on my system.. What's heart breaking is that I have seen local non-branded PSUs lasting more than what mine did.Do note that my PC boots to desktop since I have connected my headphone and got the new device connected sound. It's just that there was no display.

The Tom's curated power supply tier list isn't perfect by any means, but it's a decent starting point.

Well turns out I have few days of warranty left, so if they replace it should I accept the replaced one or think of something new entirely?
Also I mentioned my usage and specs and it would be extremely helpful if you could suggest something good within 90 - 100 dollars. I know I should conduct my own research but with my PC gone and no back up, I am stranded🙁
Thanks
