Sold a barebones pc today on craigslist. And fx8350, 8gb ram, case, psu, for $220, along with another set of old peripherals. Used a hard drive with windows on it to prove that it works, and to prove the specs. A few hours later he says it doesn't turn on. Says the fans don't even turn on. I asked basic questions (e.g. is the power supply switch on, which button is the power button, check all the connections). He says everything is plugged in, but it won't start. Any ideas? As the buyer, how do I know it wasnt damaged during transport to his house, or that he broke it? (Like putting a screwdriver against the motherboard while it was on. Thanks in advance.

You can't know what happened after you sent it or gave it to him. If he signed upon delivery and didn't note damage that who ever did the shipping is off the hook to. If he picked it up himself after you proving that it works in front of him, than it must be his fault and you are completely not responsible any more.
