Dear all,

i run really old hardware.... 7 years to be precise [currently running Windows 10].

the thing is that now i have frequent crashes with the following errors :

UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

rather than going to try and fix it, i am going to upgrade ( my parents finnaly understood the system was old rather than me breaking it lol )

the question is can i reuse my hard disk as thats only about 2 years old coz i replaced the old one due to needing extra space

the reason im asing is coz of the bad system config info and unexpected store exception.... are they due to a hdd faultor somethiong else that i dont need to worry about?

Thank you in advance

Jacob Mathew

Solution
Make the required upgrades, reformat the existing Windows partition & re-install, then see if previous errors still occur. That's a more positive way to find out, rather than folks here guessing what it might be at this stage.

If same errors occur after upgrades & Windows re-install, well that's the time to seek opinions and help with it, not now.

7 years isnt THAT old, my daughters system is a 775 board (over 10 years old), and stable as anything.

Search for and download the free "Crystal Disk info" program to see if your HDD is a/ the cause of the issues, and b/ still good enough to keep.

Most new systems use a SSD for the OS drive, which makes boot up and load times a lot faster, but make sure you dont run a pagefile on it, as it will wear it out a lot faster.

Get a larger HDD to keep music, photos and videos on, as well as a pagefile if you really need one (hint - most systems dont).
Avoid Seagate, they have terrible reliability (WD arent much better); get Hitachi or Toshiba.
