So my current character has had, what i would call, a pretty neat
streak of luck. he is a level 11 ice elementalist.

First he found this ring:
V - the ring "D Hesubemihe" (right hand)
This ring increases or decreases the mental ability of its wearer,
depending on the degree to which it has been enchanted.
It affects your intelligence (+4).
It protects you from fire.
It protects you from cold.
It speeds your metabolism.
It weighs around 1.0 aum.

Which i think is pretty nice. esp for a spellcaster.

After a while, i found:
k - the ring of Grot (left hand)
This ring provides energy to its wearer, so that they need eat less
often.
It affects your intelligence (+4).
It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+2).
It weighs around 1.0 aum.

Which kind of explains itself (right?)

haven't found any ring of ice yet, so i dont have a big problem with
choosing rings etc. I guess these are possibly stayers though.

It is after that that my "problems" start:
I found these boots:
D - the cursed -5 pair of boots of Hadjma (worn)
A pair of sturdy boots.
Armour rating: 1
Evasion modifier: +0
It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+2).
It protects you from poison.
It protects you from magic.
It has a curse placed upon it.
It weighs around 4.0 aum.

And considering im in the lair at the moment, those are pretty nifty.
Only they are -5... That gives me a total AC of 5. The only other pair
of boots i have is plain +0

And then i found this:
T - the +0 robe of Resist Death (worn)
A cloth robe.
Armour rating: 1
Evasion modifier: +0
It affects your accuracy (+3).
It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+3).
It protects you from magic.
It makes you less stealthy.
It enhances your eyesight.
It lets you teleport.
It weighs around 6.0 aum.

Which, if i use, will remove another 3 from my AC (i have a plain +3
robe).

Which ones do you recomend that i wear?

Unless you're playing an ice elementalist as a fighter/spellcaster, the
robe's pretty useless in the lair. The teleport's ok, if you can get it
to work, but there's nothing in the lair that I can think of that's
invisible or would have an attack you'd want magic resistance for. If
you really _need_ the poison resistance, the boots'd be ok, but I think
after the first few levels poison resistance is more of a luxury than
anything else, unless you're having awful luck finding healing potions.

If you're playing like a transmuter or something, it's a more difficult
question, because slaying bonuses with unarmed combat or fast, dinky
weapons are pretty huge. But assuming you're mostly firing bolts of
cold around, I'd go with neither.

[Jonathan's troubles deciding between attractive-looking equipment]

[Jeremey's advice, which sounds like what I would have said]

What Jeremey said.

And Jeremey -- see you in court. I won't tolerate you stealing my words
any more!
