this may sound kinda stupid but here goes,
what exactly is a "Coppermine" cpu
reason i ask is can my be6 440 with latest bios handle a p111 800 , currently have p11 400 196 ram , do i need one of the original PRE-coppermine cpu's?

256 kb on die L2 cache running at clock, 0.18 micron fabrication process.
The Katmai had 512 kb external L2 cache running at 1/2 cpu speed w/ 0.25 micron fab specs.

most important difference for upgrading is the different core voltages. Katmai was over 2V, and coppermine is like 1.65V. If your board will supply 1.65V, it should support coppermine. Make sure you look into it.

as LTJ points out, that's the crucial consideration in an upgrade; does the board support the lower vcore of the coppermine? Usually BIOS mediated, or a dip switch /jumper setting on the board.
There are intermediary devices for adjusting voltage (slotkets) and software solutions.
Someone who has experience w/ Goldfinger care to make some comments?
