Hello,

I am trying to install windows 7 onto my meego tablet and need to create a bootable USB, as it doesn't have a cd drive. I have the Windows 7 installation file (which ends .iso) and have tried to install by following the steps outlined in articles I have found online (e.g. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-create-an-ubuntu-installation-usb-on-the-mac/)

However, the steps they outline refer to .img files - can anyone help me to do this? Any help or advice is much appreciated.

All the best

Jason

.iso files are for burning CDs. I think you have to extract the files from the .iso and then copy them to the USB drive. 7-zip should be able to do that for you, if there is Mac support (I didn't look). Then you have to make the USB drive "Active", which I don't know how to do on a MAC. Also, can you make the USB drive a FAT32 partition with a MAC? There is no script to run, simply copy/paste the contents of the Windows 7 installation files to the USB drive.

This may be a lot easier with a PC.

just copy windows 7 into usb drive change bios settings under boot>harddisk> usb first
or use ultraiso writedisk image option to write windows 7 into usb as bootable
my question is is their a hardware lock in the meego netbooks preventing installation of windows

and just read all the replies - gotta wonder why all the morons who have no idea about creating bootable usb drives replied here...anyhoo folks the answer is not in this worthless thread we will have to keep googling
