Hello,

Everytime a computer needs formatted, it's always a hassle reinstalling Windows and running Windows update, installing drivers, software, etc. So I was wondering, is it possible (in Windows XP) to create an executable restore disc of the FULL harddrive, which stores the full OS - including ALL information/files/software/settings?
I want to be able to make this disc, then once the PC screws up, I should be able to format the harddrive, inserting the disc and it will without issues install all the files etc. so that the harddrive ends up the exact same way it was at the time I created the disc?

Is there such a software (free or not) for Windows XP that will do this?
I want your suggestions and experience on this topic.
If it's not even possible to do what I am asking, what would be the closest option be?

To make an image in Windows xp, you need a third party program, like Acronis True Image. Alternatives might be Clonezilla and xxclone (both free) but I don't have any personal experiences with them. Just google and maybe try.
