Question CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED BSOD, SSD Not Detected Until Power Switch Is Flicked

Wasn't sure to post this here or in Windows 11, so my apologies if I posted in the wrong section.

I built a new computer, and installed both Windows 11 and Linux Mint on it. Windows 11 is running on a Samsung 990 Pro SSD, and Linux is running on a WD Gold drive. Here is the full parts list:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nBsw28

Seemingly at random, it is as if the SSD is losing power momentarily, crashing Windows. When the computer restarts, the SSD is not detected as a boot option, until I flick the power switch off and back on again.

The computer and drive work flawlessly, and the BSOD happens between a few hours and a few days after starting up the computer. The only other issue of note is that the computer takes 5+ minutes to boot up. Linux works flawlessly and has never crashed, though I've never ran it for several days at a time.

I downloaded Samsung Magician and ran both a 'Full Scan' and the extended SMART test. Both reported no issues. The firmware is also up-to-date, and I updated my motherboard BIOS after I got it.

Changing M.2 slots does not help.

Is this a motherboard issue, SSD issue, driver issue? Hoping someone much smarter than me can help out.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? Did you clear the CMOS after you'd verified that your BIOS was flashed to the latest version?

Try and remove two sticks of ram from the platform and see if that alleviates the issue. Since you state it's a BSoD, we will need you to upload the .dmp files for us to go through.

Moved thread to Systems section.

Does windows boot into Safe Mode and run without crashing? One to try !!
If you have another m.2 slot, You can try it that to test.
The power supply may be intermittently faulty as well. Possibility??
Helps to narrow down problems relating to hardware or software. Cheers.

I'm not sure about the version, but I will check ASAP and let you know! I can confirm CMOS was cleared and the update was successful.

I will remove two sticks of RAM and see if that helps. In Windows/Minidump (where it says it's supposed to create the .dmp files), there are only two from months ago. However, the computer has crashed dozens of time since then. The two BSODs here were from a different issue (my audio interface failing.)

Unfortunately since the computer can go several days without experiencing this issue, it may be some time before I know whether this has helped or not.

I haven't tried that, because I can't go several days only using my computer in safe mode, unfortunately.

I have tried another M.2 slot with no success. About the power supply, is there any way to test this?

I do not have a replacement to swap it out with, unfortunately.

Ok, yeah I realise you cant run in safe mode for days, waiting for it to crash intermittently. Its more for someone to try who's not needing it daily. Some of the mods or posters on here may specialise in testing PSU's ?? There is a tester for voltages etc.
