Critiques for this build?

I'm looking to put together a desktop that I'll be using relatively light tasks(word processing, movie watching, video streaming, etc.) I really want something fast and quiet (really quiet). Something that I can boot up in a few seconds and get right into things. I decided to go with a nvidia gt 730 because I was thinking that adding a discreet gpu would take some load off of the processor, which would result in less fan noise. But overall, do you guys have any critiques for this build or am I good to go?

Also, I'm trying to keep prices down as low as possible, without sacrificing anything for what I'm trying to do.

It didn't show up on pcpartpicker.

Thanks!!!

i don't see the need for the gt730 if you're not gaming. the iGPU will be just fine and you can save money on that. the gt 730 is honestly probably no faster than the iGPU on the pentium so there's really no point. if you're doing basic tasks it's not going to stress the CPU or GPU in any real way.

Two stars. One somewhat enthusiastic thumbs up.

How about getting two 4GB sticks so you can use dual channel memory config? It'll drastically reduce stutter when CPU usage is high.

The GT 730 is actually worse than the integrated graphics in your Pentium. It'll display YouTube and whatnot, but won't do much more. I recommend using integrated graphics.

As long as you don't add in a power hungry graphics card, I'll approve your current power supply.

yea I kinda guessed that. Coming from $1000 gaming desktop builds it just feels so wrong to not have a gpu of some sort. I was also going for the 1 x 8gb incase I ever needed to upgrade to 16gb. But the odds are that by the time I'll need 16gb for web browsing the whole thing will need an upgrade lol.

Adding memory doesn't always go the way you want it to. Even if the two sticks are the same make and model, there's no guarantee that they will get along to allow a successful boot and/or stable system. The only way to guarantee compatibility is to buy a kit that offers the capacity you need. All kits on the market these days have been tested to ensure that all included sticks are compatible on all modern memory controllers.

was this necessary to say?

and actually, no we didn't

You're right, that wasn't really necessary. Many users laugh but I guess you took offense. Sorry.

Does this not count?
