Hello

Okay, I am goingto upgrade to AMD FX-6300 from Intell Core2 Duo E8200 in next month.

I would like to know if i can just plug old HDD in to work on new system? (I know drivers will not be possible, so I will have to start in safemode remove old one and and install new ones.)

Will this work> I can't back up no free drive.

Solution
it may work mate, just make sure to uninstall all your drivers before you shut down your pc for the last time and make sure AHCI is enabled in windows incase its on by default on the new board otherwise you will jsut get a nice bsod on boot if you are not already using AHCI.

i have gone between 3 different motherboards on the same 4 year old install of windows with no problems but they were all amd boards.
Yes you can just plugin the old hdd in your new mobo with the 6300 and have no issues if it is a SATA drive. If you didn't know already, you will need a new motherboard for the cpu. An AM3+ motherboard. I can help you out find a good motherboard if you tell me your max price on the motherboard.

Hello,

I thought o let you know I did it, ih ease so to say...

first of all using a UEIF BIOS is weird bt nice.

and I had to make SATA read as ATA not ACHI as it wouldn't boot into windows as previous mobo read it as SCSI WEIRD!

I also got the CM Hyper EVO 212 and Be it only tempary (using Athlon X2 250 till i get my FX - 6300 next friday) with stock cooler it was at 45c with CM evo it's at 25C at moment and hasn't gone abover 28C

I had asmall audio shudder when ram went above 2.15GB (I have a bad secotr somehwere) but it's not crashed or BSOD'd in the 3hrs it's been on.

still using old 3870X2 for now but will upgrade wto 7770 GHz by november,

Thank you for the advise

and it did work for me I just had to Tweak BIOS.
