Crossfire 2 R9 270 or Upgrade to R9 290?

Hi I'm stuck deciding between getting another R9 270 to crossfire or just upgrade to a R9 290. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

System specs:

FX-6300 OC 4.3 GHz
8GB RAM
128 GB SSD
500 GB 7200RPM hard drive
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P motherboard
Gigabyte R9 270

R9-290X is $300 on newegg. it will give you much better performance than 2x r9-270

Budget cards usually aren't worth going SLI or Crossfire for IMO.
Mid range cards like the 970 and 290x are really the only point I would start to consider it. They offer near top level performance usually for half the price. It becomes worth in a sense because you end up with top level performance for a relatively low price compared to ultra high end.
If you can get similar performance from a single card solution then I wouldn't bother with a dual card setup.
