Crossfire different brands

So i'm confused about something can you Crossfire different brands like say a xfx r7 260x and a msi r7 260x. Could i even CF my xfx r7 260x with a hd 7790

No problem, mix and match to your heart's content--between R7 260x cards, but no you can't Xfire 260x with 7790

EDIT: I was wrong, apparently you can.

Well you can do that but I wouldn't call it an efficient rig. Also, NO, not possible. The twio cards are completely different. I would CF two MSI Twin Frozrs as it will have the best cooling and good efficiency. Or the Asus version of that card.
