so ive upgrade from my msi gaming 970 board to asus crossfire formula with my 8350 and simply on the asus bord my cpu runs 10C hotter its not the paste nor cooler everything is stock and default. and i dont see why a differnt chipset would do that
You've basically replaced your MoBo. You can expect a slight increase/decrease in temps. Unless they go extreme in stress test, you don't need to worry.
38C-42C idle and 60c load with a h60 doesnt seem normal and people with the same set up are hitting much less. ive swoped back to the msi and it runs 25C idle and 48C underload. even on the asus cranking the cpu fans from 40 to 80% cools it by 1C at idle.
The higher temps on Asus board are still very well withing safe limits, 60C load is perfectly fine. You can't get the exact same temps on two completely different boards which have different features and design (I mean assembly).
speaking from personal experience, the Formula-z applies a little more voltage than almost all other boards why? about 90% sure it has to do with the power phases. to get similar power delivery to your 970 i'd suggest going into the voltage setting it to offset mode and pressing "-" 1 or 2 times (i forget the exact incriment it's like .0625 or something) alternatively, if you are overclocking use the offset mode as apposed to auto or any of the other modes. offset mode delivers more consistent lower voltage at the same settings with about the same overclock stability. this of course is all asuming you applied thermal paste properly.
