Question CRT Monitor Resolution Problem

Hello everyone I have a problem that has been bothering me since yesterday, a few weeks ago I got a CRT monitor for gaming or a Samsung SyncMaster 757dfx from a guy on Subito.it, my pc has a 2080ti and then I searched the internet for various Hdmi / Display Port / USB-C to VGA adapters with the bitter discovery that they all stop at 1600x1200 75Hz resolution, so I bought yesterday a gpu with native VGA capable of supporting resolutions up to 2048x1536 85Hz or the Nvidia GT 710 from 1GB diu Vram in which to connect the monitor and then use the 2080ti as a render card for games, the problem is that although my monitor is able to reach 1920x1440 64Hz and 2048x1536 60Hz having 96Khz of Horizontal Rate and despite the panel control nvidia shows me all the supported resolutions with a monitor recognized by its name and not as a generic monitor, when I click on resolutions higher than 1600x1200 the icons are reduced and it makes me put them but everything is v Isualizzato always at 1600x1200 with an addition of strange lines you have sides of the monitor, why does this happen if the GT 710 vga supports up to 2048x1536? I'm going crazy if you help me do me a huge favor, thanks in advance!

So, you have an RTX 2080 Ti, but you’re using the GT 710 so you can use your CRT monitor?

That’s a bad idea.
You should buy another monitor, one with HDMI & DisplayPort connections.
 
The maximum resolution your monitor supports flicker free is 1600x1200@76Hz.

It's technically capable of going higher but it has visual problems as you are seeing. I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus like that. It does the 1600x1200@75/76 Hz fine. But gets all wonky at 2048x1536. What's funny is I could only see that resolution on an ATI Rage 128 in Mac OS 9. When using another GPU or Mac OS X or when I still used it as a main monitor in Windows. My computers would only list the flicker free resolutions and refresh rates.

Multisync CRT are funny. They can support a huge range of resolutions and refresh rates. But most of them won't come out clean. Only some come out clean. Like I tried using it with a Radius video card in my Macintosh IIcx. Which only outputs 1152x876. Rather than the standard 1152x870. It works but comes out a little wavy. The card comes from before the days of Multisync and before resolutions and refresh rates got somewhat standardized. So, Macs had all sorts of wonky resolutions and refresh rates in the late 80's and early 90's and you had to match a monitor with a video card. Otherwise you had to get a monitor for your Mac which specifically supported the one refresh rate and resolution it outputted.

I don't think you'll find one. The monitor isn't designed to handle anything above 1600x1200@76Hz cleanly. CRT just don't have hard limits like LCD. They have what they support and what they support well.

Maybe you can open it up and play with the focus potentiometers. But there are deadly voltages in there. It probably wouldn't help anyways. I've never seen them adjusted for this. Just people adjusting the pots of old monitors. Which are so worn out that the regular user accessible adjustments no longer work. Just don't go poking around inside a CRT if you don't know what you are doing. Even an unplugged CRT can store a huge electrical charge.
