Has anyone ran into a simillar problem, trying to update Crucial MX500 SSD firmware trough Crucial Storage Executive software, Version: 9.07.072023.03?

My setup is running Win11, and I have two 500GB Crucial MX500 SSD drives.

The following error output:

Firmware Update Error

Command aborted by the drive

Firmware Update Error API Message: Upgrading drive Drive0 [Serial No. 2211E61948F7] to M3CR046
Firmware Update on Drive0 failed with status 12
Upgrading drive Drive1 [Serial No. 2002E2802190] to M3CR046
Firmware Update on Drive1 failed with status 12

I need to update my SSD drives to New Version:M3CR046 Release Date: Dec-4-2022, because I'm experiencing the following hangs on read/write functionality on the drives.
The new firmware could fix my problem.

Release Notes for M3CR046:
This is an optional update which repairs a hang condition occurring under corner-case workloads. Most Windows desktop and notebook users will be unaffected by this change.

Any help or advice would be big help!

There are dozens of postings on the web from people with similar problems on the MX500. This drive seems famous for difficulties encountered when trying to update the firmware.

A manual update option is mentioned near the end of this page, when Storage Executive fails:

I'm still using a 1TB MX500 SATA drive in an old HP laptop, but given the falling prices of SSDs, you could replace both drives with something new (possibly Samsung or Sandisk?).

Either way, backup all data on both MX500s before proceeding. I've killed several cheap and nasty 120GB SATA SSDs by messing around with test software, but nothing was lost apart from money. If the firmware update goes badly wrong, your SSD could die.
