which is better, getting told the Raijintek EreBoss is better than the noctua nh-d14 but a few benchmarks are saying even my h55 is better than the Raijintek EreBoss.

The Cryorig R1 is most often compared with the NH-D15 not the 14. The Raijintek isn't in the same playing field.

The Phanteks PH-TC14-PE generally outperforms the D14 for less money. It won't catch the D-15 or R1 but is 40 less. If ya willing to spend:

$90 - D15 is 5 dbA quieter but R1 runs 1C cooler (I'd take the quieter)
$60 Phanteks edges the more expensive D14 and and Silver Arrow

That's a no go .... Memory is going to go in Slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 counting left to right.

Which one ?

The Phanteks was listed as comparable to the D14, .... those two should not be compared "apples and apples" to the D15 / R1....way different budget category

$60 Budget category
At $60 - the Phanteks is better than the D14 temp wise, D14 is about 0.5 dbA quieter

The D15 was listed as comparable to the R1

$90 Category - Have to define "Better"
The R1 beats the D15 by 1C
The D15 beats the R1 by 5 dbA

Here's it's a matter of what is more important to you.... 1C cooler versus 5 dbA of sound level.

An increase of 1C (from 70 to 71) equate to 1.4 % hotter
An increase of 5 dbA (from 33 to 38) equates to 50% louder.

Again define "better" ..... lower noise for the most part comes from lower rpm..... lower rpm results in lower performance. The Phanteks and Noctuas are the two best fans available.

The top 5 in order of best performance / noise ratio

Phanteks PH-F140HP/TS
Noctua NF-A14 FLX
Noctua NF-A15 PWM
Noiseblocker B12-2
Noctua NF-P14 FLX

But in the end it's a personal choice .... "best" should almost never be used when describing PC components without qualification as, along with each advantage, there's usually a disadvantage.

A faster car will generally get lower mpg
A bigger car will generally get lower mpg

Here's another way to look at it (from above pic). While all have the same sound pressure level at idle....

Going from a D15 to the R1 gets you 1C at a cost of 5 dbA
Going from a R1 to the H220-X gets you 5C at a cost of 5 dbA

I got the r1 because I couldn't get the d14 for less than £60 with the 1150 mount with next day, only Amazon had the 2011 socket one for £60 next day, my r1 will be here on the 16th-20th, suppose it will be worth the wait considering it's like 8c better than the d14

Got the R1 for almost 1 year now... You got to use lowprofile ram with it, i use hyperx fury and no problems with clearance. Temps are amazing and god it looks beautifull!!

You can also go with the R1 Universal, it uses a diferent fan wich allows ram with tall heatsinks. Hope it helps.

blackbird what temps do you get on prime95 with your r1, mines getting the same temps as my mates 212 evo -_- idle temps range from 20-26 but prime95 is giving me load temps of around 60. im pretty sure thats bad considering a 212 evo is getting the same.
