Crysis 3 Low FPS

I'm getting low FPS in Crysis 3 on one of my systems. It runs fine on my Intel 2600K with GTX 680, but it has massive FPS drops on my Phenom II X4 970 with GTX 560 2GB. For the moment, I'm unable to use my Intel Rig, so I'll be playing with my AMD rig for a while.

The CPU usage is around 80-95% and the GPU load decreases to 55% when I'm in environments where the game has to render a lot of stuff, but it stays at 99% when there is nothing intensive taking place. I've tried with all sorts of settings. My CPU temps are about 53C and GPU temps are at 66C, this is normal, right? I seriously doubt a Phenom II X4 970 BE is bottle necking a single GTX 560.

**My friend runs games fine with a 955 and a GTX 560**

Op never said his friend plays C3, which is why I asked for verification
@Op, 4GHz has upped my frames to about 75, usage has altered slightly though,
Max is still 100% (C3 is my Prime95 replacement hehe) but average is up to 80% and graphics is still the same %
If I dropped settings (Yeah, like thats ever happening) it may equalise more

I did as you told me to. I put in the GTX 680, but I'm still suffering from FPS drops. I thought Crysis 3 was supposed to be GPU intensive; why is it using all my CPU? I tried running it on low, medium, high, very high, and no AA.

I use a Corsair H60 for cooling my CPU. It stays under 55C when running Prime95. I haven't overclocked anything, so my CPU's at 3.5Ghz.

Thanks for replying back.

It is your processor that amd CPU apparently cannot keep up with the 560. crysis 3 is fairly CPU dependent upgrading your graphics card will increase the fps a bit but replacing the outdated Phenom II CPU with an fx Chip will give you the most performance boost.

As a general rule of thumb if your GPU usage drops below 95% and the CPU usage is over 90% then you have a processor bottleneck.

Yes, it does indeed use more CPU, but honestly, how the heck can a 970 BE bottleneck a single 560? My friend runs games fine with a 955 and a GTX 560.

sorry misread it but out of al this i would say overclock your cpu and put another better graphics card in it
