Crysis patches won't install on Windows 7 pro x64

Hi, thanks in advance for responding. I was playing crysis on my computer:

Core 2 quad 2.83ghz, Nvidia GTS 250, Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P mobo, 1tb 7200 rpm sata hard drive, 4GB DDR2 ram at 800mhz

and I was managing half high and half medium settings with some notable hiccups but other wise everything was solid. Then I got to the warship and realized that the game had a terrible bug. I go on line and find out that there have been patches released that supposedly fix this bug.

Before I go on I should note that this is the first video game I have played on computer since the late 90's and I'm 18 years old. I am just barely getting in to the computer gaming scene and have been playing console games only since the original Xbox. As far as I know you can't run programs at the same time as crysis so I have no idea how people are tracking the fps, I'm that kind of ignorant.

Anyways, I downloaded both the 1.1 and 1.2 patches and neither of them would install. One said that it wasn't a valid win32 application and the other sorta started opening but then it had an error message of whom's contents I can't recall. What I'm wondering is is whether or not there is a discrepancy between the patches and windows 7 or whether I just downloaded the wrong patch versions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like you downloaded 32 bit patches for a 64bit system. However, I don't see different 32 and 64 bit downloads. Where did you get the patches from?

And to help you see the fps, in game type the ~ key, which should be to the left of the "1" key. This will open up the concole. Now type:
r_displayinfo 1

This will display a bunch of info including FPS.

r_diplayinfo 0 will turn it off again.

Hit ~ again to go back to the game.

there is a program called fraps that is used a lot to both record video footage and monitor fps. This works for most games.

Sounds to me like you downloaded 32 bit patches for a 64bit system. However, I don't see different 32 and 64 bit downloads. Where did you get the patches from?

I got them from www.crymod.com. it was the only place I could find them that looked halfway official and related. I think I may have followed a link from EA's website for Crysis, but I don't remember. What I was really looking for was a website that I could download a 64bit vs a 32bit patch, but I just couldn't find one.

I couldn't find them on EA's website, which was linked to directly from the game.

Anyways, thanks for the help.

PS: I re-ran the patch 1.1 and the error message it showed me said:

"This patch could not be opened. Cantact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

In case it's useful info.
