Hi,
I decided to see how many FPS my Quadro DCC would give me in Counterstrike, so I used timerefresh in all the resolutions my monitor supports, all of the times I test in fighting scenes in the exact same place and same # of people. In all resolutions I got the same # of FPS! How could this be??

U got a problem?! Then dial 1800-328-7448!

That means your CPU is the bottleneck. What FPS are you getting and what processor are you running it on?

lol, so 680fps is not enough for you? Overclocking your processor will increase your FPS a bit in Counter Strike.

That's not right at all, Quake 3 is more advanced than CS.
Counter-Strike recommended system requirements:
Intel Penitum® 233 or AMD K6-2
48 MB RAM
3D Accelerator card (OpenGL or Direct 3D)

Quake 3 recommended system requirements:
PII 266+.
64+ Mb Ram (ideally 128Mb).
Supported 3D card (Banshee/TNT/TNT2).

Quake 3 is not as advanced as CS and you get nowadays 240 FPS, so no way CS is giving that.
Counter-strike is based off of the half life engine, which is based off the quake 1 engine, I find it VERY hard to believe it would be better than quake 3.
And there is a FPS cap to 100, but if you type "timerefresh" in the console the view spins 360 degrees as fast as the computer is able to do it, but its hardly meaningful considering how old the game, and the engine is.

Getting about 680FPS and I have a 1.2 Ghz T-Bird w/ 512DDR (soon gonna OC it to 1800MHz).
How on earth are you going to get a 600 MHz overclock out of a thunderbird? I'd love to know so I can do the same
Oh yea cs sucks anyways in so many ways it isn't even funny, you should buy Unreal tournament and download Tactical Ops The game actually has randomized recoil, not to mention better weapons, and the game engine its based off of is very nice.

He's probably going to be using a Vapochill, or watercooling or some other form of super cooling.

You probably won't get those FPS w/a GF3 running in OpenGL. I have a Quadro DCC, which optimizes in OpenGL, hence the higher frame rate. Oh, and about the 600MHz OC, well, I have an AXIA, so that should get me to 1500 (maybe even 1600MHz), and after that, I rely on my Christmas present (cooler of my choice).

U got a problem?! Then dial 1800-328-7448!

Ok, I've decided! Big ASS water cooler! No I'm not pulling your guy's legs. And I do have Unreal Tournament. Is it any good btw? I never got to trying it out (how I love RMAing vid card every month to get new games:))

when you look at what your seeing in UT engine versus Quake 3 engine you'll notice UT has higher details and smaller brush work. Quake 3 is all large blobby cartoonish shapes. You can achieve such high FPS in quake 3 with nice video cards because the geometry is simple, and on a brush level its low quality. On texture quality and lighting it looks nice though.
The UT engine normally uses lots of brushs AND high quality textures plus nice lighting so you typically get lower FPS.
In UT I get around 85 FPS (Limited by my monitor because I'm running 1280x1024) and in quake 3 in the same resolution I get around 100-200 FPS (Vertical Sync is turned off or else I'd still get 85 FPS)
Then Half-life is just old so most video cards out now can give you 100 FPS in 1024x768, I personally play in 1280x960 so I get 85 FPS when vertical sync is turned on, and 100 when off. I noticed 1280x960 looks better than 1024x768 with quincuxx turned on, not to mention low rez with quincuxx gave me around 60 FPS and as I already said 1280x960 gives me 85-100 FPS.
