Hello, I have been dealing with this issue of CSGO not being smooth for about a year now, and it has been extremely exhausting, I have been playing the game for about 6 years and never seemed to have the issue before, or at least I never realized it back then. I have spent the last year trouble shooting over and over, checking so many forum posts, and spending so many hours trying to figure out what it could be. First I will start the problem, the game overall does not feel smooth, everytime I peek someone or they peek me the var (both var top and bottom) will spike along with a little fps drop. Also it is impossible to hold an angle because people will warp across my screen (little dramatized but very big in competitive play) basically feels like a zywoo peek every time I try to hold an angle, I play competitively on face it and ESEA so it is very important, but I also feel the problem on MM too. Weird thing is I have had times where it was insanely smooth and that was right after a Windows reinstall, but after a day when nothing in the pc was changed it went back to what it usually does. I have even upgraded PC’s to fix this problem and now I get higher FPS but same issues, internet seems to be fine as well. Making me think maybe it is a power issue? I have tried every fix currently on the internet by my knowledge.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Please :)

PC Specs:
CPU: 5900x
GPU: 3070
Ram: dual channel 2x16 @ 3600 mhz
MOBO: B550-A
PSU: 850w NZXT 80+ Gold

which B550-A motherboard you have? MSi or ROG Strix one?

Also, a few weeks ago I did some research and found there was a problem with my case phanteks P400 A, something with the front USB 3.0 caused stuttering across PC for users, so I unplugged it on motherboard and it did help with other games and overall PC smoothness but didn’t help at all with CS.

Try these:
  • Disconnect from internet
  • Uninstall gpu driver using DDU (clean and do not restart).
  • Uninstall all the processors on device manager (should be 24 on yours) like this:
    unknown.png
  • Restart the pc to bios, and update to the latest bios(download, extract the files and copy it to flashdrive, plug it on top rear usb slot then reboot to bios and flash the bios). Then go to bios again after update and load default or optimized settings.
  • boot up to windows and install the latest AMD Chipset driver, reboot and connect to internet.
  • Install the latest nvidia driver.
  • And check windows update (and optional updates) if there is any. Also enable Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling in graphics settings like this and reboot:

*do this all offline until reboot after installing amd chipset driver, also you may reboot to bios after all of this to set the XMP (and manual tune the timing if you want), make sure your ram is on slot 2 and 4. Download needed files (highlighted word) before doing step 1, do the step by orders.

Make sure the psu connected to the gpu is 1 pcie cable per 1 slot (use main cable, not the branches/split) like this:

Will try everything in there and update you on how it goes.

I have the same problem with 5900x - x570f - 2070super, did you solve it? Thank youu
No I didn’t. And it’s mainly because people will reply on forums with random things and issues that you and I have probably researched and done more then 100 times with no success. It’s unfortunate and it’s an issue that needs solving but there’s nothing you can really do, even upgraded my MOBO thinking that was the problem and it wasn’t. It’s extremely frustrating and extremely annoying.

Yeah, I see. Just a quick question, do you play rocket league? Because cs go for me is less smooth than my old pc (8700k and 2070s) but rocket league is perfect! Let me know 😉

I have before, and had no problems with it, it’s mainly FPS games like Valorant and CSGO but mainly CSGO valorant is very smooth most of the time CS is never.

Hey AwkCS, try this if you havent already:

Set -THREADS 6 or better -THREADS 4 in LAUNCH OPTIONS

START CS GO
,
go back to DESKTOP,
start TASK MANAGER,
go to DETAILS,
RIGHT CLICK CsGo.exe,
SET AFFINITY,
DESELECT all the cores,
SELECT ONLY 16 18 20 22
GO PLAY CS GO.

Tell me how it goes, for me was a miracle!
