Curiousity of Performance about Geforce GT 760 for a friend

My friend is on a budget. He wants to be able to play Rust, Rising Storm, 7 days to die on high settings on a 1680x1050 monitor. Is it possible or should he invest in something a bit above his budget? Any answer that can be shined on this curious question 😀

He saw a Geforce GT 760 at Best buys and wonders if he can play the games (as aforementioned) that he has on at least high settings and native resolution

Not familiar with those games but 760 is good not great. It can run new games on medium/high setting @ 1080p so the lower resolution will do even better... that is until your friend gets a 1080p monitor so i say go faster like a 770/280x or wait for 960 next month.

Well he says that he ain't changing his monitor anytime soon (for now that is). But do you think that card can run at the 1680x1050 resolution?

GTX 670 which I had is almost the same card and it does well @ 1080p with high settings excluding the most grueling games so a lower resolution will be ~ 35% higher fps/1080p.

Only reason I brought up 770 is because they are going to drop in price soon with the 960 launch and there will be some killer deals for more horsepower, I always assume performance and value are the two most important things.

Also: Keeping that monitor is fine because with an NVidia GPU you can render games at higher resolutions for higher image quality, I enjoy playing games on my 1080p screen @ 2k-4k depending on performance.

The games I mentioned he can run eh about 1280x720 (most of the games except Rising Storm=800x600). Are you sure that a gtx 670 has the equivalence to a gt 760?

Update: He finally put his money where his mouth is and got himself a geforce gtx 750. Thanks for the advice man!
