I just bought a used HP 8300 elite SFF running an I5-3470 CPU and 4 sticks of 4gb RAM. Can somebody tell me what the current BIOS release should be? My system is at V2.90. I see other folks at V2.99 and higher. Your thoughts please?
If necessary, click on "Change" to choose your Windows version. Click "Change" again - wait for page to reload, then expand "BIOS" category.
Note: As updating BIOS is potentially harmful to a PC (eg if update fails you'll be left with an expensive door-stop) do not update it without a compelling reason to do so (just to get yours up to date is not a compelling reason in my book).

Thanks folks especially regarding the door stop. Actually I was hoping a BIOS upgrade might contain the ability to implement XMP as my RAM is labeled 1600mhz and CPU-Z is reporting 789mhx. Can you help me connect the dots? Is this due to the RAM being DDR3?
