Your PSU, Ultra 3X 1000W, was reviewed by several sites, in 2007. 18 years ago. You may consider replacing it. The alleged "lifetime warranty" most likely doesn't cover your components. Also by modern standards it actually a 840W PSU, unless anything inside degraded it further over the years.

If I purchase a newer GPU, do I also need to replace the motherboard? Thanks Spec are below
No. Aside from changing/updating your PSU, you'll be fine with any current or about to be released GPU.

Well, the thing is that I bought the PSU in 2007, and it still works great. I use to run two video cards when I bought it. Can[t remember what that was called. i.e. SLI ??? That was a big hype and waste of money. One card much better. I have this in my cart, just in case.

What is your reasoning to replace the PSU. Let understand. I had a power supply that I bought in 1978, and it still worked fine up, until the day I gave it to Goodwill in 2020. Thanks

Hello Cpt Snake

Which game(s) do you play?

What settings do you have them set to? (medium, ultra, etc) What FPS do you achieve on average?

What settings would you like to set them to? What FPS would you like to achieve on average?

Summary: I've asked these questions to get a sense of what you're trying to achieve, or solve, with an upgrade.

your specs:
Intel core i5-10600 | Asus Tuf Gaming Z590-Plus | 32GB (2X 16GB) 3200 MT | WD Black 1TB/2TB/5TB HDD | Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | Ultra X3 1000W

I am an Old Guy, Play mainly, FPS, on Ultra setting if the game offers it. Most of the games I have are on Steam with a few on Obisoft. Just play for fun. My current card seems fine, it's just that Nvidia won't update it. Woo! New cards are really expensive. Up to 1000.00. I don't think, I need a new card since all the graphics seem great. Thanks

it's just that Nvidia won't update it.
That really does not mean much at this current time. Your card will still function as usual if you put a time stamp on todays date the card will still game in 2029 minus if on hardware side it dies.

Example I have a couple of GTX 690's in different machine the last driver for that was Tue Jul 09, 2024, that's it no more drivers. Still gaming. Do I expect it to play newest AAA games NO.

This is where in the future you will hit a wall is new AAA game won't play good or not at all not because the driver but the hardware on the older card.

Even if driver support ended the card has had a long run and can still live on as long as we respect it won't keep up forever.
