Hi all.
I've read all the controversy and confusion about what the Z790 Dark Hero can really handle in terms of RAM kits (capacity, speed, etc.) vs what the ASUS website says, and I just don't know what to believe.

Rather than get into that, I'm asking if you currently have this mobo and it's working fine, would you please post what RAM kit you purchased and your configuration (which slots). I don't need details like tweaking voltage unless it's critical information. For me, with RAM I just want to set it and forget it.

Ultimately, I'm just trying to get to how much RAM and what speed can I put in this motherboard and have it run stably long-term without causing problems or doing damage.

Thanks.

DDR5-6600MHz and slightly higher is the sweet spot for Intel. In fact there isn't any gain for buying higher spec'd rams. Out of curiosity, what sort of tasks will you be taxing your platform and what processor are you pairing with that motherboard?

As for slots, it's stated in your motherboard manual
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...O_EM_WEB.pdf?model=ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO
page 1-4, to populate slots A2 and B2 when working with two sticks of ram. In fact, work with two sticks of ram since 4 sticks would add unnecessary stress to your processors integrated memory controller.
