Custom Build PC- Power LED button question

Hello All,

I am in the process of building my own machine, and I am actually fabricating my old Apple G5 case to hold PC parts. Unfortunately I cannot re-use the existing power button and front panel board, so I ordered a new LED power button. However, I am having problems with the wiring; I have been able to have the LED to light up, but the button will not start the machine (and I tested the wires and they work- I was able to jump start the machine.) So any help with this would be appreciated.

I have attached the both the diagram for the front panel connection on the Motherboard (Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3) and the switch button diagram provided from the website.

That's the wrong type of switch for a PC power switch.
That switch clicks on or off, a PC power switch if always open and just goes to the on position when it's pushed in. (actually have the button pushed then when you release the button it goes right back to the open position)
To use that switch you would need to push it in/on then push it in again/off.
It could be made to work but it's not the intended use for it. I used those for my LED's in the case.

To make it work use the LED always on picture. Power LED wires go to the positions in the top of the switch. The Power switch wires would go the device+ and battery+ on the bottom of the switch the 2 right beside each other. Just use those 4 wires with no jumpers. You would need to push the switch 2 times to cut the PC on and the LED should stay on with the PC on.

Thanks Zerk. So basically I ordered the wrong button. Looking back on the website, I would need to purchase a "mommentary" switch, correct?

While I am at it, here is another question that maybe your insight can assist with. As I mentioned, I am rebuilding my old G5 case to hold a PC board (will include pics later) and was hoping to use the existing apple power button. I found some documents online (here) that seemed to be reliable on the pin layout of the front board panel. After building my own custom cord, it never fired up. I thought it was no good, but maybe my wiring was off.

I will attach a diagram that I made. If you could give it a look-see and let me know if anything pops out as wrong, I would certainly appreciate it. FYI- I am not going to use the fire wire header)
