Hi all,

Yesterday I built my very own custom built pc and I came here to ask a question about CPU temps

Here are the specs
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming-5
CPU: i7 4790K (4.0Ghz)
CPU Cooler: Stock
GFX: Geforce GTX 970
Memory: Corsair Vengence (16GB)
PSU: EVGA NEX650G
OS: Windows 8.1

I'm currently getting a variance in CPU temps, generally web browsing can be from 35c to 60c depending on what im doing (watching videos, lots of tabs). And in gaming I generally see around 60c to 90c. Everything seems to run fine but I'm a tad worried about the CPU temps but maybe I'm just paranoid, are these temps expected on a stock cooler?.

Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks a bunch.

To be honest, I'm not really looking to overclock the system, I just want to keep it cool. But I'm not sure I want water cooling since theres a risk of it leaking and such which would be tragic to on £1,000 system. Do you know of any sort of "best" coolers out there that aren't water cooling?.

Depends on what you're looking for, I like quiet rigs which leans me toward Noctua products, but they aren't cheap. A lot of people talk well of the CoolerMaster EVO which runs about 35 bucks US. Ask 10 people and you'll get at least 7 answers. In the end just make sure it's gonna fit in your case because a lot of them are TALL and can be problematic like that, and if you have tall ram sticks, you could have the same issue, so try to narrow it down to those which will fit your system first and then look at reviews and form your own opinion. But making sure it fits is a biggie, I've seen that mistake and people unable to close their case as a result.
