So ive been crimping CAT 6 cabling to custom lengths with solid core specific, 3-piece guided RJ45 connectors with only 50% success. Half of my cables are perfect and the other half show up in Windows Network and Sharing Centre as "Identifying" for a split second followed by a couple seconds of not being recognised, over and over again.. Only way ive been able to fix it is to cut the ends off, start again and hope for the best..

- Ive triple checked my pins are arranged right. (Using 586-B)
- Kept all twisted pairs separated & twisted until they absolutely had to be straightened.
- Was careful not to slice into any wires when stripping the outer housing.
- Did it as neat as possible and re-crimped several times.

Is it something im doing or what?
Thanks

"re-crimped several times"

It is possible that you crushed the wires by overdoing it on the crimping force or induced stress breakage due to multiple crimpings.

Especially if cutting and re-doing is working to fix, I would say the issue is with your crimping technique.

Simple answer to stupid question 😀 Re-terminated one end of the cable with less strength and it was perfect. Thank you!

No such thing as a stupid question, we are all here to learn and help each other!

I'm glad you got it working.
