Custom Gaming PC Build. Thoughts?

Hi Guys,

This is my first time building a PC, and using PCPartPicker I put this build together:

i5-4690k
Gigabyte GA-Z97-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8Gb (2x4) DDR3-1866
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card
NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair Builder 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Optical Drive

I am planning on upgrading it in the next few months with an SSD and possibly overclocking.

Please give me some advice.

Seems solid mostly.

But a 750W PSU is complete overkill, not to mention the Builder/CX Corsairs are not really considered good PSUs, especially if you overclock.
Get a more reliable/stable 550-650W unit. Here is a tiered list of PSUs, stick to tier1, tier2a, and tier2b ONLY.

Something to consider, a better chassis, the Source is low cost and I do not think you should be adding large coolers to it. This is not a must though.

That Corsair CX series you've posted is in tier three and it is not for serious overclocking

Looks good, with a few points that you should think of:
1. Get a better PSU, and 550W is enough with your parts.
2. Try to get an SSD in there.
3. Look for a better case with good cooling. Give us your budget for a case, and we can make some recommendations.

I could probably spend $75 on the case considering the importance of cooling. I was thinking of upgrading to an SSD later on because they're more expensive and for my price range it was 1TB HDD for ~$55 or a 128GB SSD for ~$90. With a OS and games I wasn't sure if 128GB was enough. What are your thoughts?

If you will use the stock cooler, lose the Arctic Silver 5, since the cooler comes with pre-applied paste.
Also, if you`ll get a custom cooler, they will come with their own paste. It`s just wasted money to get it.
