[SOLVED] custom resolution problems on amd gpu

hi guys, im trying to use 1280x1080 75hz resolution on my old monitor, i used to be a nvidia user, i always used that resolution on my monitor without problems, my monitor native resolution is 1280x1024 75hz, but now i upgraded my gpu to an rx 480 8gb , so i created the same resolution that i always used on the nvidia card on the same monitor (1280x1080 75hz) using amd wattman software, but when i select the resolution, the screen does not fit correctly on the screen, it exceeds the monitor screen and i cant see some things, i already tried to use amd gpu scalling but it does not work, i dont know what to do to fix that , im trying to use alot of forums but i guess no one have a fix for that, sorry for my bad english

check if its full screen or overscan, should say in the settings somewhere

In the NVIDIA control panel you would navigate to adjust screen size and position and try the "aspect ratio" or "full screen" settings, it works for mine, if i dont do that i cant see half of my taskbar n things, idk how you do that for AMD

You might be able to manually set the screen size, that will do the same as the overscan adjusting, just sets your boundaries, its a bit trial and error but 3840x2160 is one of my screen sizes and the other 4040x2160, try manually entering those as custom resolutions from the right click display settings/Radeon App, sorry its been years since iv used AMD, Phenom II days

i dont have hdmi scalling option, because im using displayport

Why do you not just use the native resolution??

I'm not getting the necessity for the 1080 pixel vertical resolution??

Even if it did scale correctly its simply not going to be as sharp as 1024.

because 1280x1024 makes the objects size on the screen a bit different of their real sizes depending on the angle you're seeing it, well i dont know how to explain that but in war thunder that is a game that you can see your aircraft and tank from different angles you can notice that, and i fixed that by using the 1280x1080 resolution

i just installed the old nvidia card together with the amd card and plugged the image cable on it, and i tested the 1280x1080, worked fine, but when i plug the image card on the amd card the custom resolution is gone, also i noticed that nvidia uses different timings that amd uses for 1280x1080 , i tried to use the same timings that nvidia uses on the amd wattman app to create again the resolution and it did not worked, it says its incompatible with my monitor zzzz

worth looking on your tv settings see if its trying to correct for it, my toshiba you hit the menu button scroll over to picture and press up for the shortcut to get to the screen format, change from auto to full or whatnot, sometimes the tv corrects for he pc, i just had to do this with my gf's pc none of the overscan settings were working

He's using a monitor with display port though so it's likely already on 1:1 ratio.

Which is exactly why he's losing 56 pixels at the bottom of the screen.

I'm still not getting the need for a custom 1080 resolution, 1280 x 1024 is a known native resolution - everything on screen should be scaled and displayed as it should be.

I think the OP is just used to displaying at 1080 and seeing images stretched a little which is actually wrong.
