Hello All,
Good day to you.

Is there any option to set a single word file to always open in web layout, while the other files should remain in the default layout.

Right now, whenever I'm setting a file to web layout, all the other Word files are also opening in web layout.

If I'm not wrong, there was supposed to be a setting somewhere which allowed us to set this option for only the current Word file. I only remember it vaguely so I could be wrong.

Also, since we're on this, is there any way to set the online Word file into web layout? Cannot see the option.

Thank you

Solution
If you save any given document in the desired view does that choice of view remain fixed?

= = = =

Another option would be to record a macro that goes through the necessary actions to change the target document view to the Web Layout view.

Create a Macro that opens the document, "goes to View" > Views > Web Layout.

Macros are created via the same taskbar showing the Views.

What file format?

Do you mean something like having all .txt files open in Notepad (as default application) except for one particular .txt file that you wish to open with another .txt editor?

Perhaps a "right-click" on the target file would work per the following link:

https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/windowsbasics/opening-files-with-different-applications/1/

If the target file and web application are consistent then you may be able to create a shortcut macro that does it all in one click.

Determine if the right-click method works then create a macro.

Hello,
It's not about opening files with a different app or something.

Microsoft Word has different views under the tab 'View', i.e. Read Mode, Print layout and Web layout.

I'm asking about those actually.

You will probably need to tweak the macro(s) in order to meet the requirement.

Should be straight forward (especially if you are regular Word user) to set up the macros and test accordingly.

Thank you for the info.
I had a bit of idea about the macros. Was expecting a function which would let me do it without any macros.

Almost every solution on the internet tells about Macros, and that the option which I'm looking for is not available at present. Guess I'll have to wait for the day when Microsoft adds the option (without using macros ofcourse).

Set up a test document and experiment with Macros.

Start by just working through the necessary steps manually.

Then, once you have the manual process in place, record the steps into a Macro.

Go one step at a time and do not move on until the step works as required.

Another way is to look for published/tutorials that make changes to some aspect of Word formatting.

I found the following link:

https://www.lifewire.com/changing-w...Change Layouts, available to change the layout.

Record a macro while you work through changing the layouts from one layout to another.

Then print and edit the macro - maybe you can assign function keys per the following link:
