Im thinking of attempting to cut off the locking hook on a video card, but I cant find any documentation on it. I dont know what tool, how, where, or even if I deffinitely should not cut it. So if anyone could provide me with some useful information (and possibly save me from disaster) I would very much appreciate it, thanks!

You can just use a simple hacksaw or any other kind of saw that is capable of cutting through hard plastic.
Just be really careful as to not cut into the part with the pci-e connections as that will damage card and maybe even out right kill it.

Here's a video of someone modifying a graphics card to fit into a pci-e 1x slot.

They used a dremel to cut away the unwanted pcb/pci-e connectors.

Obviously in your case all you want to do is cut away the lock not the actual pci-e connector part.

How would I damage the slot when the graphics card is not in the computer? Or do you mean that part that plugs into the slot?

Basically, im trying to turn the old web server into a gaming computer and on almost all video cards theres a hook, which the weird metal bar/handle gets in the way of. We've already tried pulling on it and tried bolt cutters (wasnt my idea, didnt work) but nothing. So then I decided I could somehow cut off the hook from the video card

See the story above, the server wont be moving a whole lot and its horizontal (Not like most towers which are vertical) so I dont think its necessary
