I have to disagree with all the haters. I am loving this demo! It runs soooo smooth! I jumped in game right away and didnt touch any graphic settings. No lag or stutter at all. So I went back and upped my res to 1920x1200 and still no lag. Then moved up from gamer to enthusiast. Still no lag. No dx10, no dx11?? I didnt even really notice! It all looked beautiful to me. The sun rays were there which were usually a DX10 option only in the last game. I guess its highly modified dx9? Whatever! It works and runs so much better than the first Crysis. The suit is badass! Once you hit level 5 you can create your own custom class and then things really get cool! I love all the different suit abilities and how you can rank them up. Yeah there are some similarities from COD ie the killstreaks and perks. So what!! I think that's a good thing. They just amped it up and made it better. Im sure the full game will be even better with more maps. I had no problems logging in because I already had my account from the first Crysis. I just used the same login info and got right in. They do need to add the refresh button to the server list and have more North America servers. Im sure this will be taken care of by the time it is released. Im lovin it!!

At the end of the day, companies need to make a profit.
Making crysis 2 playable on cross platform insures higher sales.
As for DX9 only, who cares! Have you actually watched someone play a fps game, or any game for that matter?
I don’t know why they bother spending the time and money adding all the bells and whistles into the game, when most don’t even pay attention to all the detail in the first place, maybe the first few minutes, but after a while its just run and gun. My son buys games and plays them for hours until he beats the game, then he sells them @ gamestop to buy another one. He doesn’t pay attention to all the detail of the game, he just blurs through it. That is what most console gamers do.
I love attention to detail. Let’s take GTA IV, my son just rushes through it, while never noticing the detail and atmosphere of the city.
When I play GTA IV ( on PC ) I love to walk around and explore the whole city, listening to the people and enjoying the amazing detail of the game.
Hell I still haven’t beat the game, because I like to enjoy the whole atmosphere of the game. My son like most gamers just doesn’t appreciate all the little details that painstakingly went into GTA IV. If you’re like me, we are in the minority when it comes to games.
If you want to make money in the gaming business, you need to cater to the masses, not a minority of pc gamers with cutting edge hardware.
I remember when pc games were all about playability and the graphics were limited by hardware. Now games are getting dumber and graphics are getting almost realistic. PC games died a long time ago, with the creation of the 3D graphics chip.

Nice graphics. Stiff character movement and gameplay. Kinda like an arcade game, built more for console. I'm more of a realistic FPS person myself. Battlefield 3!

I love it when people complain about free stuff. The game play is great, the suit adds very interesting dimension. Much needed change to the MW, BF FPS routine. Does anyone remember the reasons Crytek had to make this for consoles? 1.) much bigger market, this game cost a lot to make, they do have to make money? 2.) the last time they put out an incredible pc game, it was the most pirated game ever. Again, thank you all who partook in stealing pc games over the years, this is why we are here. I will be buying it, I am having a blast with it. So tired of bfbc 2 & MW, this game reminds me of when unreal was an absolute thrill to play. I foresee some very intense matches once everyone figures out the suit and combos. Thanks Crytek/ea for at least putting it out on pc!

[citation][nom]idlerp[/nom]I can't believe people are actually whining about what API they are using and going so far as to say they won't buy the game based upon that. Id Software's Rage isn't even going to use DirectX for rendering at all, it's going to use OpenGL. Are you not going to buy that as well?[/citation]

Well, OpenGL is just as good as DX11. Crysis 1 looks far better.

F*ck you Crytek! I'll pirate this *** just for spite, won't even play it.

I hear ya. They put themselves in this situation... and whats up with the stupid sign on at the beginning. Why do I have to register and create an account. Why cant I just play the game?
F**k them!

And this is why Crytek ported Crysis 2 to console ports because lamers like you would rather pirate than buy the game. If you don't like the product, don't buy it. Pirating a game only encourages console ports, you need to boycott so they pay attention to PC gamers.

I couldn't play through an entire match. It was just too boring. It feels like MW2 but with cloaks. Sorry Crytek, I will not be buying this game.

The people who say it doesn't matter that Crytek is downgrading us to DX9 should get off their computers and go sit in front of their TV's with controller in hand.

I bought Crysis, hell I even got the maximum edition when it came out. That was a great game and I gave them my money for it. For them to then turn around and give us this lame a** s*** console port for the PC as a sequal already feels like a big f*ck you from Crytek to me so why should I even continue to show them any loyalty.

As far as I'm concerned if this is what they're going to do then I don't even want their s*** games on the PC so they can just take their dumbed down shovelware to the consoles.

Please tell me that was a typo... no Direct X 11? Now I know why there was no option in the demo to select graphic mode but the retail game will not even ship with DX 10???? What kind of crazy bs is this? I mean it looks amazing for DX 9 but still I just upgraded to a nice DX 11 card, was hoping that Crysis 2 would be my benchmark to really enjoy my purchase. Crysis 2 runs well because it's only DX 9 but DX 11 it would run even better thanks to better multicore support of DX 11.
BTW
I LOVE the new suit controls, much better and faster usage in my opinion but you kinda die really easy.

Hell ya BF3! A real PC game... it's gonna blow this POS right out of the water!

[citation][nom]retrig[/nom]We know it will play Crysis 2... but Cysis 2?Sorry Jane, couldn't resist.[/citation]

The above doesn't make sense.

Also those who are talking about pirating the game. Really? on a world wide open forum? how much class you all lack. I think $59.99 is outrageous for a PC game, however.

since when can't you pirate consoles?.. someone has been living under a rock apparantly.

Was pretty underwhelmed with the demo. The game is a mixed bag in every sense of the word. Aside from some impressive 1st person animation and post processing it looks, plays and sounds similar to any recent CoD game. I thought Crytek was going to "push the engine as far as it could go" on PC. Hell to be honest even if this was the console version I would've expected more the way they're boasting.

Here's some screens of some of the best and worst visuals from the demo-

It feels like Call of Duty. The rewards for collecting dogtags are basically the exact same as the killstreaks from Call of Duty 4. I have still enjoyed it so far.

It is easy to disable aim assist from the options menu. Getting into a game took about 5 minutes the first time and 1-2 each subsequent time.

Haven't heard anyone mention this issue yet, but I'm not getting any audio off a Xonar Essence ST. Must be some kind of compatibility issue, but I'd also like to mention that this is the first game I've encountered that has given me any audio issues whatsoever (this includes BF2, Left 4 Dead, World in conflict, and all the Orange Box games, among others). Guess not too many gamers are also audio enthusiasts, or at least not the ones who play Crysis. This is pretty much the main thing that ruined the experience for me, but there are other complaints...

The graphics are decent, but in my opinion Crysis 2 is definitely a step down from Crysis Warhead in terms of both graphics quality and game play mechanics. Besides the fact the game will release on PC only supporting DX9 (which is honestly a slap in the face to honest PC gamers) with only the promise that Crytek will release a DX11 patch sometime in the future, from the moment the demo starts I definitely get the impression it was designed and tailored for consoles. Everything from the GUI to the control scheme feels like it would work better when running off a controller as opposed to a keyboard&mouse. It's sad really, but given who's in charge at Crytek I'm not really surprised.

At least there's BF3 later this year. Now that looks like an honest attempt at a kick ass PC title. I hope DICE makes a good showing, maybe Crytek might learn a thing or two about making a modern fps.

I played it and posted here last night, but alas my post didn't get shown.

Anyway I said it is a pretty decent game. I guess the forum computer doesn't like me saying that. I had a lot of fun playing the demo and I'd say this game is a decent buy. DX9 or no. However it appears that the CPU and GPU industry aren't paying this team for putting out the game since they aren't being assenine and forcing people to upgrade to a Fermi. This game runs like a dream on my GTX260core216. I like it. I don't care about the DX9 propaganda everyone is spewing out here. If you guys want DX11, send me a free $600 fermi card and I'll be happy settling with DX11 games. I can't justify spending 600 bucks just to play one or two games when the card will be outdated within 3-6 months. MEH! And count me out from the console fanboy clan. I only play PC games.

Tom's apparantly is filled with a lot of spoiled IBM PC pirates who carry iphones, probably 80% of which are jailbreaked.

Which "$600 fermi card" are you referring to? cause I'm not aware of any. The highest end 500 series card is currently $500, and you wouldn't need something like that to merely run Crysis 2 in DX11. A $250 investment in a GTX560Ti would probably do fine. Or you could simply stick with your GTX260 c216... it will also run Crysis 2 DX10/11 fine. An upgrade to a phantom "$600 fermi card" is not necessary.

And I'm not sure why you don't care about having DX11 as an option, because it essentially means you don't care about DX10 either, which is strange given your decision to invest in a (once high-end) DX10 graphics card. DX11 is basically just a superset of DX10, which is why people often refer to the two API's synonymously. This is also why every past as well as future DX11 game currently in production also comes with DX10 support without the need to effectively rewrite the game. If you have a DX11 game, it's extremely likely it'll run on legacy DX10 hardware without an issue, you simply won't have the option of enabling the DX11 specific features.
