In Device Manager it is showing as working perfectly.

In Disk Management it is showing as Disk1 not initialized & 2TB storage Unallocated.
When I right-click on it, all the options are greyed out.

If this disk in the image is the same disk mentioned in this thread;
then you should've backed up your data off of the drive.

Yes it's the same. Another question is can I use USB drive as my primary windows system drive. Will there be any issue?
you can use windows on a usb drive. I would not recommend it.
There are issues but they depend on many factors like which controller the drive has inside. These are relatively slow devices. A cheap SSD would be much better. It used to be that windows does not verify data on USB devices and that causes a bunch of problems over time. you used to have to turn verification on manually and people never knew this and would end up with corrupted files. When they turned on verification the drive would run much slower.

Yes I think USB is a bad idea, it's slow plus I have seen many times my USB gets disconnected and then reconnects. I don't know what will happen if I am running windows from USB and it gets disconnected and then reconnect.

If you haven't done so, backup all data. D may just disappear again, maybe permanently.
