Hii,
I am a moron and I messed up the disk partitions on my laptop. I was tryin to increase my C:/disk space by allocating the free disk space from my D:/. I used this software called "partition magic" and just when everything was going smooth..some error occured and the partition did not take place..to make things worse..I can't acces my D:/
The error message says
"D:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
No clue what to do..I NEED to recover my data from my D drive..What should I do?!
Shoud I take it to the laptop service guys..if yes, then about how much will it cost me?
or can I fix it myself?
NEED TO ACCESS MY D DRIVE TO RECOVER MY VALUABLE DATA!
I NEED YOUR HELP COMPUTER WIZARDS!!
PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like you "accidentally" formatted the drive. Don't worry not all is lost.

1) Open start and type "create and format hard disk partitions"

2) Once there you need to assign a drive letter, if already assigned then move on to the next step.

3) Download and install Recuva HERE

4) Guide HERE

5) Run Recuva and select the drive (fig.1) then click on the "options" tab then the "actions" tab (fig. 2) and check everything and run the scan.

Grab a snickers because it'll be a while but you'll get your stuff back. It won't be pretty (meaning it'll be mixed up since there is no index... kinda like ripping pages out of a book and mixing them up)

Most people think a format wipes a drive... it doesn't. Windows just deletes the index and marks the files as deleted (unused space) and that they can be written over.
