hi folks. I've just done a major overhaul on my pc. New gfx card, motherboard, cpu, power supply. When I switched it on windows Xp threw a hissy fit and had to be re-installed. Got everything up and running EXCEPT the USB wireless adapter.
using a D-Link DWl-G122 H/W ver C1 F/W ver 3.00. This did not come with any drivers on cd, and is not being recognised. Device manager is saying there are no drivers installed for this device, and yet it's never needed drivers before.
Using XP home with service pack 2. Have been onto the D-Link site and transferred the latest drivers on there via usb stick... to no avail. Even specified the folder to look in and was told that there were no drivers related to my hardware in that folder!.
When I plug the device in it is being picked up by windows 'add new hardware' as a 802.11 bg WLAN, but again, not detecting a driver for this device. Wants to connect to the internet which it can't do... because I'm connected through a wireless hub... and need the adapter to connect! any ideas?

The driver here should work fine. Windows does NOT have drivers for that by default. You most likely used the cd last time.

Install it...restart if it asks you to. Now go right click the adapter in the device manager. Say "no, not this time" to windows update and then tell it to search automatically(recommended). the D-link software should have placed a driver that windows can find on the machine(do not just extract the exe file install it). This is why they always say to install the drivers first as it just makes things faster and easier.

Another option is to just change usb ports and windows will redetect it...same thing...say no to windows update and let it file the drivers it self.

Let me know if that works.

sorry to say it was one of the first things I tried. have no uninstalled and reinstalled the driver 6 times, each a new install for a new USB socket. really getting frustrating now as EVERYTHING else is working fine. just that damn wireless adapter that will not play. I may try hardwiring into the hub... seem to be out of ideas for doing anything else

aaand... now I feel like an idiot. just found the disc that came with the adapter and what do you know... it works. Moral of the story, if hardware comes with an installation disc...DO NOT LOSE/MISPLACE it... or suffer the reduction in patience and sanity that comes with endless hours of frustrating brick walls

Good to hear you have it working...maybe make a copy of that disc so you cant loose it again(i did that with my WinTV disc as its needed even to use driver updates[due to the video decoder]. this may be what effected you to. they did have the original release driver, maybe that would have worked.).

I know it's been a while but I have exactly the same problem. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my cd.
None of the downloaded drivers work so please do a good deed and upload an .iso of the cd or something.
I thank you in advance.
Good day

I have the same problem... no disk... Would it be possible to have the ISO image uploaded somewhere? It is no longer available on D-Link's site.

Thank you.

Dear AlistairG, could you make link of the cd driver for this ? Many thanks for your help.

Thank you very much. I have been trying different drivers from the WEB (official D-link, older version from softopia...) and nothing was working.

Your linked driver worked right away. And for the record, I know my way around a computer and this adapter was a pain to get working without the original CD. Again, thank you very much.

Hi If you found the original disk, how about buring me a copy so mine ill work? please respond one wayor another. Thanks in advance.

On the D-Link (DWL-G122) I had the same problem until I re-read the back of the thing.

Mine read off to the side - H/W Version A2.

Then I did another Google search: D-link G122 a2 and I got another zip download that so
far is working. The version seemed to make a difference.
