D3d device wine download

i am trying to play portal 2 on my mac. it is a windows .exe and i use wine.when i run it it gives me an error message saying "d3d device creation failed. can anyone help me? possibly a d3d download link?

This should be able to be run directly from Steam with no use of Wine etc. This sounds as if you are using a pirated version of the game. This is illegal and the only solution is to acquire a legal copy of the game from the Steam Store or a retail location.

portal is available on mac. but i dont think it works on linux or via wine.

yeah, my friend just emailed me the setup file saying that the game was cool and i should play it. i half expected it not to work
