I'm trying to teach my daughter that, while it's nice to be important, it's important to be nice.
Kind of a tough concept to push, when you slag some guy for being a fanboy.

Its fixed. Just a blown fuse, it works fine now albeit only with the 3.73 Extreme edition, the dual core chip is dead. Shop owner told me I should have used thermal glue or something to fix the cpu cover, and all would have been fine but I'm sure all you geniuses knew that.

Q: when you see someone with a Ferrari that ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere, would you help or just stop and laugh at him ?

I am severly limited in what my mind can perceive.

This guy is stupid cubed.

I do feel kinda bad for you, but if you've posted enough times to merit your title, you damn well should've known you'd get these kinda flames for this one.
If by some miracle you really did this stuff, you need to study up on things a little before you start ripping things apart. Would you try and change the plugs in your car with the engine running?

The only thing I can guess is if he's a reader and buys everything pre-built from computer stores. Then maybe this was his first real dive into the hardware world. (maybe) In that case his other post could've just been quoting specs from the manual.

You're only as cool as you think you are, which makes me pretty lame 🙁

d00000d!! wtf??? i don't know wether to laugh at you, pity you, or just plain smack you upside the head. actually i'm kinda stuck between all three, i chuckling away here, whilst feeling bad for you, oh, and by the way *SMACK!*

AAAAAAhahahahahahaaaa.... you poor muppet!

I still havent gotten past the fact that I tried to team up with the guy in his other post and then he ends of taking a shot at me. Its hard to be very sympathetic after someone has snobbed the whole forum with his status"Money".

HWfreak11 here from the Futuremark Forums (we've got a thread going on this too, here). I highly doubt this is true, especially considering what some people pointed out--that both Intel and AMD chips nowadays have thermal protection. I personally have started up a P4 without anything on it, and it just shuts off.

Another thing that brings me to doubt his story is that IIRC the dual core chips don't have hyperthreading... which would mean Windows would only see two cores.

EDIT: Just discovered--the Pentium EE 840 does have Hyperthreading, so this might be possible.

Not only do I stuff my mattress with $100 bills, but my office chairs as well.
I also keep fresh stacks next to fireplace for kindling.
Don't hate me for having so much cash lying around, my bank account is empty.

Well, don't think it is not gaining interest, the piles of money by my fireplace can be viewed through my french doors, and have gained a lot of interest from onlookers!

Holy crap! This wasnt just a joke? Jesus christ man are you a complete retard?

Q: when you see someone with a Ferrari that ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere, would you help or just stop and laugh at him ?
If he ran out out of gas thats an understandable accident. If he pulled apart the engine with a hack saw to prove a bet with a friend, then I wouldnt help him no!

But how else would he know that the engine really has 12 cylinders. =)

Nothing is as easy as it looks

I bet you $100 can't run your Mercedes without oil for 100 miles at high speed.

Ok, I will start off by saying that I usually feel really bad when guys get slammed on this forum for writing something that one of the vets thinks is stupid. That said... you are an idiot. My wife who knows absolutely nothing about computers read your post and laughed. She said, "was it broken before he started to pull things apart?" I didn't know what to tell her, and I couldn't even tell her if I knew what to say because I was laughing too much. This is just stupid...

Relax!! It's okay to be a fool once in a while. No point fretting over what's done. At least you got something working now.
How about posting the pic of your fried cpu without the spreader here?
Could be fun.....

both Intel and AMD chips nowadays have thermal protection.
Doesn't help though when you pull off the heat spreader, and then short the chip out with it.
Spaceddonkey ranks right up there with a guy who shut his pc down by pulling the chip and hsf off, and restarted by putting it back in. He posted in this forum a couple years ago, asking if we thought it would cause problems. Do I think they are idiots? No, just a little techno challenged. It does make me laugh though, so thankyou spacey, for they joy you have brought us.

Wondered what the hell you guys were talking about... finally found this thread.

I can't believe it myself. No one can seriously be that stupid. There are those that don't have a clue, but they're too afraid to even open their case, let alone what you've described.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.
