dark monitor

I have an ELSA Gladiac GeForce2 GTS 32 mb and an AOC Spectrum 9GlrsA 19" monitor. I've noticed that no matter how high I turn up the brightness (in games and movies), the screen is still awfully dark. The brightness on the monitor is as high as it gets. Any ideas on why its so dark? Is it just not a good monitor or what? Any help would be appreciated.

You will find a gamma correction buried in the advanced area of your display settings.

You might want to try testing your monitor with another computer, and computer with another monitor.

If the monitor works with another computer, it's fine. If it's still dark, then it's got a problem. If your computer runs dark on another monitor, then the card could have a problem. If not, then it's fine.

If both are fine, it simply could be a problem of the monitor and card not liking eachother. Never seen that, but wouldn't suprise me (Few computer issues ever do now).
