Question Dark spot on Touch Display

Anyone has an idea what this dark spot is? Summary: It is a Laptop with a Touch Display. The spot is visible when the Screen is turned off. During normal usage, it is not really visible, unless the screen shows something dark/black (like a picture of night sky), then it is a little bit visible. And when light form outside shines on the screen, while looking at a picture of a night sky, the spot is even stronger visible. Touch feature still works, even on the area where that spot is.

Can't really figure out what it is. My main purpose is to find out, if this poses a danger or not. Could this destroy the touch feature, or even destroy the display by time? If not, I was just going to use it, since it doesn't disturb much while working.

It looks like it would if something got between the actual screen and the glass in front of it. Really can't tell if it's liquid or air. Was anything left on the screen in that area for a long period of time?

Unfortunately I dont know. I received this from a refurbisher. So, I don't know about the history of the device.

It could be any number of things then. If you lightly press on it does it spread apart when you do so?

No, nothing like that. It also doesnt feel bubbly either (like, when it was air). It is not spreading, sinc ethe glass of the touchscreen is very solid and thick. Basing it on my eye vision, that spot is under the glass, in a deeper layer, and not on the surface. I guessed it could be burnout, but then it makes no sense, that it isnt visible anymore during the usage (and only on a black screen and outside light falling on the scren, its visible). Touch also works on the area where the spot is.

I never saw something like this, thus I dont even know what terms to search for. Image searches didnt give proper results either. During usage it doesnt bother me. But what bothers me, is, not knowing if this is something dangerous, that could damage the screen by time, or not. Either I am searching wrong, or there really is not a single similar case on the whole internet.

I've seen several instances of laptop screen issues and this is by far not something dangerous (sand flies behind the LCD glass anyone?) so no cause for concern there. Will it cause issues later on? Depends on what caused it to happen in the first place.
