Dark spots in the screen (I don't think they are dead pixels).

I discovered these dark spots in my screen, they don't look like dead pixels, though. They're definitely not ON the screen.

I have an ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q Gaming Monitor (2 years old), GeForce GTX 970 GPU and am running Windows 10. Please let me know if more specs are needed. I also did a screenshot and the spots weren't there, so I think that excludes the GPU(?)
Anyone have an idea what they are and if there is a way to fix it?

Very probably stuck pixels. Rub them and within a few days they will probably correct themselves.
