Question Davinci Resolve Build

So I built this computer 2 years ago as my first computer build to edit my Sony A6300 footge in Premiere Pro.

I now have a Black Magic Cinema Camera 4K editing in Resolve. Playback isn't smooth. I started to do a Ryzen 1950X threadripper build, but someone said I can just upgrade the graphics card to an RTX 2080 and that would fix the problem. Or do a Ryzen 2700X or 1920X Build. What do you say?

Is the PSU 2 years old? f so, I'd ask you to replace it with your new purchase of either the GPU or a new platform. If you're looking at professionally working with 4K footage, then yes the investment towards a Threadripper build would be worth while. If the video editing work is casual then you can make do with what you have...which reminds me, you forgot to add the GPU you're current;y working with.

Is a very good build for what you need:

I'm someone who likes to video edit myself, and this is what i've learned about what makes a great video editing PC.

1: CPU is VERY important, but relies more on Cores than Speed for davinci due to it being a very complicated process.
2: RAM is also something you want a lot of. 32GB is great for 4K editing, and you always want more RAM, it will speed up your processes IMMENSELY
3: The GPU is not as important as the CPU, but it makes a big difference. If you look on this: https://www.pugetsystems.com/recomm...-DaVinci-Resolve-187/Hardware-Recommendations Page you will see that the RTX 2070 GPU is just behind the 2080, but the 2080 is 300$ more, so it's the best bang for the buck you can get for this.
4: You might be wondering why I gave you 2 storage SSD's instead of just 1 big one, and I did so because it's more versatile. If you wanted to, you could put these in a raid configuration to speed them up, or make sure your files are always backed up, you can use one just for cache files, the other for stuff you're working on, and the HHD for finished products, it all makes a difference and helps organize your files and streamlines the Editing process.

To the points you wanted to know before: NO do not get a RTX 2080, for you, you want to get a new build. Your CPU that you have now is ONLY 4 CORES, that's horrible for video editing 4K, you want at least 8. This Ram will be much faster, and the Motherboard and PSU would be new and dust, dirt, and grit free here, allowing for the best performance possible.
