I am experiencing massive lag issues on DayZ, I know the game is in alpha but it shouldn't be this bad.

My specs:
Amd fx 8320
8gb ram
GTX 760 gpu

I get about 20-30 fps in Elctro with everything at the lowest it can go. I've tried all the tricks where you go into the config and change stuff there but it still is pretty much unplayable 🙁. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Solution
yes an ssd would help as it would load the game textures and data faster which means less lag and stuttering and if you mean can your motherboard support the gpu yes it can it can support any new gpu out atm. Your cpu is more than enough its a beast cpu.
yes but you also need to run ccleaner (freeware) after the uninstallion ti get rid of registry that is left over
uninstall the driver
open ccleaner
click registry- scan for errors i believe it is
then delete them
and install back the drivers
i gained 20 frames more in the game i play with 45 to 50 frames now

DayZ is not optimized at all right now, which is why you have bad frames in town. Everyone does (even guys with 780Ti's). I'm able to hold 30+, but I'm running SLI'd 760's and a mix of settings on low/normal and a set up SLI profile.

I know you said you've gone through the settings and whatnot, but double check to make sure AA and Ambient Occlusion are off (AO likes to turn itself back on each time you fire up the game).

You also mention you're getting lag, then your frame rate. Are you getting connection lag? If you've got a bad connection to the server (high ping) then you'll be all over the place in towns and the game will be "unplayable".

im also sli'ed but im on max holding those frames

Ambient occlusion and as are off. My ping is fine aswell. The annoying thing is I get 30-40 fps for fives minutes then it just drops to 10-20 which is unplayable for me.
Would putting dayz on an ssd help?

I'm swapping out my 760 for a toxic r9 270x as the 760 runs at 73C when on max load. Hopefully the r9 270x will work better with dayz

you probs wont notice a difference in fps when swaping the gpu and if you do it might be worse as the game is unoptimized as i have said above this game is all about processing power and 20 to 30 fps in elctro is acceptable to me.

The thing is as I already said above I get massive lag spikes. The first 5-10 minutes is playable then BOOM down the 5-15 fps in towns and 20-30 in the countryside. Its ok for someone who doesnt have that good gear but I've practicaly got the best gear in the game and dont want to die to some zombie coming over and smacking me whilst the game freezes. My old asus 7770 2gb was playable at normal at around 30 fps. That is why I have swapped to the r9 270x in hope that it will be more optimised or work better with dayz. Would an sdd help much if any? The r9 270x is also cheaper so if I want to crossfire it in the future I could probably pick up a second hand one for around £100-120 which should be able to run any game smoothly. Is my cpu good enough to crossfire those two, and is an 8x pcie slot able to run one of those?

yes an ssd would help as it would load the game textures and data faster which means less lag and stuttering and if you mean can your motherboard support the gpu yes it can it can support any new gpu out atm. Your cpu is more than enough its a beast cpu.

Thanks so would a ssd be the way to go an possibly add another 270x in the future? Also would it make much of a difference in dayz if I overclocked my cpu to 4ghz and how would I go about doing that?

if you have the room in your case and another pcie slot then yes a 2nd 270x would be good just bear in mind you might need a new psu to power both cards and dayz with an ssd will improve performance a bit cant say how much but all i know is that it is worth it. as for overclocking your 8320 if you have the stock cooler DO NOT OVERCLOCK as the temps will increase alot and can cause damage to the processor but if you do have aftermarket cooling look at this link http://sites.amd.com/us/Documents/AMD_FX_Performance_Tuning_Guide.pdf
the program AMD overdrive is good for temporary overclocking if you wish to have the overclocking done all the time save a preset on the program and load it each time you boot your pc if your CPU can handle the OC that is.

Ok I'm running the program right now. It's at 3.8ghz and temp is 53 and 57 at 100% load also got the hyper 212 evo as cooling. Got a 750w PSU so the power shouldn't be a problem. So all I need is a 2nd 270x and an ssd for this pc to be a beast?

wow your all set i think really yea you could overclock to around 4.2ghz then see how hot it gets a full load you want to stay below 70c if you can handle 4.2ghz go 4.4ghz but i wouldn't go anymore and you might want to turn your core voltage up a bit also not to much though and yes 750w is enough for 2 270x's i think your set mate.

Thanks for all your help im going to leave it clocked at 4ghz and see if that makes any difference, during the test the temp never went higher than 60 so that should be ok. With that setup will I be able to run most games if not all on high/ultra?

yes i think that build could run most games on high to ultra with 60fps no problem there might be that odd game where you will see odd fps drops but besides that you should be good to go as amd still have yet to release mantle for more games which means more performance increase's in more games.

Clocked at 4ghz right now getting 50fps on outskirts of electro cpu is at 39-45°C and gtx 760 is at 56°C. Is that ok for temps. In 10mins tho dayz will just plummet to about 10-20 fps no matter where I am.

do you get this low fps when you go to pick up loot in dayz because i had that problem around 2 months ago when i would go to pc up loot and the fps would drop ALOT and your temps are fine nothing to worry about.

I was playing dayz with my friend yesterday. We where both on the same server and I was running about my fps suddenly just dropped to an unplayable frame rate, he then died and I could not revive him with my epipen. Any idea why this happens? It has happended to me about 3 times now and when I close dayz and reopen it is playable again. It's just really annoying having to do this every 10 minutes tho especially with the new anti-server hoping system
