I plan on upgrading my HTPC to run some modern games, however the mobo supports DDR1 memory. Will this be a bottleneck with modern games? I don't expect to run all the new games on max setting, but I do expect to run them on high and smooth frame rates. Total upgrade will cost me about 170 bucks. Hope to get a couple years out of it still. Games I hope to play Crysis, Grid, COD 4 Modern warfare/world at war, FEAR 2, Fall out 3, GTA IV

My specs will be
Asus A8N SLI deluxe
AMD 64 3800+ (possible upgrade to the AMD 64x2 4000+)
2 gig 400mhz DDR1
evga 8800 GT (one of the best cards that will still fit in my HTPC case)
Windows XP Pro.

thanks

It is not that DDR1 is going to be a problem running new games.
Its usually the rest of the hardware, namely the CPU, that goes with the DDR1 that is going to stuggle running modern games. An 8800GT is also considered about the bottom end by todays standards for gaming.
You will be able to run the games mentioned at medium settings and resolutions, but as I said, the DDR1 is the smallest concern.
