I currently have four 2GB DDR2/800 installed with 4slots.
If I replace two of these with DDR2/1066 will the 1066 simply slow to the 800 speed or not work at all?

If any have Four DDR2/1066 4GB each chips (Total 16GB) laying around they wish to part with cheap.. THAT WORKS OF COURSE! Please let me know.

I had the same issue a few years ago. I mixed DDR2/800 and DDR2/1066 memory sticks and they both ran at the DDR2/800 speeds. All the memory sticks were from the same manufacturer, I can't guarantee that different memory modules from different manufacturers will all work happily together. That isn't to say that they won't work, just be aware that there is a slight chance that they wont.

WELL POOP I SAY!

I am thinking of just getting 4 DDR2/1066.
It is just with these PAGAN Holidays chewing at my checkbook this time of year, it makes it difficult for me to gets things I WANT!.. All these darn 'Little Shavers' running around wanting cheep Chinese plastic crap this time of year makes that difficult.

Any ideas where to get four 4gb 1066 cheap? Lemme know..

PS: How can I add an Avatar in place of that blank crappy thing most of us have anyway?

You can still buy DDR2 at Newegg but it isn't cheap. Your probably looking at about $70 for 4GB of DDR2. Your best bet is to find what your looking for on eBay. there's always someone wanting to get rid of old computer stuff.

Maybe if they were local and I could meet them at a PC shop and test the Ram first I'd go for used memory. Just hard to tell if you're getting "working" ram or anything WORKING for that matter when you buy used.

I'll poke around Craigslist and EBAY for local peeps. Hmm, Ebay does have a money back guarantee I believe.. I wonder if that applies to used electronics...
