Can i use a ddr2 graphics card on a ddr3 motherboard? it will affect the system? ? i have an old system from 2009 (my first pc) with intel pentium g870 , 4gb ram ddr3 , 500gb , ati radeon x300/x550/x1050 running windows 7 .. i want to upgrade my graphics card to a nvidia geforece 8600GT 512mb ddr2 .... i want to play games like league of legends , cs:go , fortnite .... thank you for the help

Solution
it's fine, VRAM and RAM are 2 different thing
(pairing a DDR2 GPU on a DDR3 motherboard is no problemo)

make sure your motherboard had the required lane (PCIe lane), ur PSU is powerful enough, and the case will fit :)

although u might want to look for a better GPU like a used 750ti perhaps, which will perform much better than that old GPU

PS: i don't think it's possible that your PC came from 2009, since the CPU (Pentium G870 came out on 2012)

I got the pc after i finished second grade , and now i don't have such a big buget .. i have to wait 5 months , i'm gonna get a new pc with i7 3770, gtx 970 , 16gb ram , 1tb hdd , 240gb ssd.... so for now i don't see why i should buy a expensive card like gtx 750ti when i'm gonna get a new pc .... i want to play the games i like at a decent frame rate ..

well then i think u can stick with the old GPU just fine till u got the new one, it'll work, don't worry bout VRAM and RAM type, they're different and doesn't collide with each other
