DDR3 1333MHz not working on Gigabyte G41M Combo motherboard

I currently have the following setup:

Intel Core2Quad Q9550
Gigabyte G41M-Combo
2 X 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM

Yesterday I bought a pair of 4GB DDR3 modules:
Gskill 4 GB DDR3 1333MHz F3-10666CL9S-4GBXL RIPJAWS X

I removed my existing DDR2 modules and connected the new DDR3 modules to the DDR3 slots. But when I turned on the PC i get beep-beeps indicating memory error. I tried putting only one of the DDR3 modules; but the same problem. I tried all possible combinations to no avail.

After a couple of hours, I put back my DDR21 modules and the machine booted without any problems.

According the motherboard's website it should support upto 1333MHz(O.C.) and should downclock to 1066. But for some reason it is not working,

Can someone help here?
 


All DDR settings in the BIOS are set to auto.
 


Ok, I will try changing the frequency and let you know the result.
 
Ok, in my BIOS, I cannot find a way change the DRAM frequency directly. What I can do is change two parameters
MSH Frequcny Latch (200MHz, 333MHz, and Auto)
SPD Multiplier (several options based on what I have selected for Frequency Latch).
The following combination gives me 1333MHz
Frequency latch: 200MHz
Multiplier 4.00C
Result: 1333MHz

But I cannot find a combo that will result in 1066MHz (closest I got is 1111MHz)

But chanign those does not work. The same beep codes. When I put back DDR2, I get a BIOS warning that the previous attempt to overclock was unstable and was reverted..and then it boots

I have no idea what all those things mean 😀

So what now?
 


Mine is Rev 1.4 (http://www.gigabyte.in/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3997#bios)
It has only 1 BIOS since release which is F4 (which is what I currently have)

If possble could you tell me how to set my memory clock to 1333MHz using BIOS settings. I've never played around with these settings before.
 
The manual I found doesn't explain anything other than the installation, and I am not familiar with it otherwise, I couldn't really provide a good walk through unfortunately.

I am reading though that the FSB might need to be set to 1333Mhz also, but I am unsure about that, I am hitting google now to see if I can find something.
 


My CPU's default FSB is 1333MHz. So I am not sure if I should change that.

You are welcome, when it doubt return that memory and get the next down speed, maybe a heck of a lot less stress and headache. Sorry I couldn't figure it out, would be easier in person to come up with ideas.
 


I have requested them to give me a replacement. But they are very hesitant. Looks like they do not have any DDR3 1066MHz inn stock anymore let alone 4GB version. I tried the internet stores as well, but no one seems to have any stock (good quality ones).

BTW, I dont think its because of the frequency. It looks like the motherboard is outright rejecting the RAM modules. I have used DDR2 rams that exceeded the speed of Motherboard. But the MB simply downclocked the RAM without any configuration changes.

This is really weird. I will probably bring-in a friend of mine who has more experience with these stuff than me.

I have the same motherboard GA-G41M-COMBO and also I had the same problem, i did buy two memory moduls ADATA AXDU1333GB2G9-3G, just i do think this kind of memory will be working fine in my motherboard because are inside of specs of Mobo.

Here's what happened i did install the two new modules of DDR3 ADATA 1333 and the motherboard just can not boot anything this just kept beeping without any possibility of go inside of BIOS, and then like there was not way to select some option like *Default Settings*, so I assumed than i should delete the BIOS settings through CLR_CMOS jumper and so I try (and even retire the battery) but it did not work and the mobo kept beeping after the clearing of settings, the which is something very strange as this motherboard should support DDR3.

But then happened something very strange here, you see how before i was using two modules of DDR2 both of 1GB and like this still work for my I do have the idea of do downgrade to another bios one older than the last than i do have flashed in the mobo and after of make this and only so finally the motherboar was capable of can boot with the new memory DDR3.

To here that was my solution, but then i do assume something will be wrong with the last bios provided by gigabyte and to confirm this i just think i was be easy prove just i will reflash again the last bios with the new DDR3 Modules working and after this the Motherboard logically would not boot and so i make it, but I had a big surprise when this time with the bios than before cant get work now it do work nicely..


Someone understand where was the problem, but all this was my sulution hope to someone this info be useful... =)

When i insert transcend ddr3 1333 4gb ram in ddr3 slot in my gigabyte ga- g41m...
the system is not even loading the DOS ,, so there is no chance to get into BIOS , so how can i configure overclock settings

please note, what is version of your MoBo rev. 1.4 or 2.0 ?

I have a similar problem with new DDR3 Kingston Fury Blue HX313C9F/4 is not working, Mo Bo is only produce beeps.
I was not succesful to start thouse RAMs in MoBo.

I have rev. 2.0 MoBo G41 Combo. I did as follow:
1. loaded old BIOS FA + HX313C9F/4 - beeps, - fail
2. loaded new BIOS FB + HX313C9F/4 - beeps, - fail

I back to old DDR3 KVR 1066 D3N7/4G
3. installed KVR 1066 D3N7/4G, made reset of Cmos, and again old KVR is working.

Still I do not have idea how to start HX313C9F/4 in this MoBo at speed 1333 Mhz.

Maybe someone have idea ?




 
The G41 chipset (Dual Core/Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad) boards require double-sided low density (2Rx8) 4GB modules. They WILL NOT post with single-sided high density (1Rx8) 4GB memory installed.

I have a G41M and a P45 board and they both require double-sided low density 4GB (2Rx8) memory modules or they will not post.

They also require 2GB modules to be double-sided (2Rx8) although sometimes will post and run with single-sided 2GB modules but this can cause memory corruption and errors. However 1GB modules can be single-sided or double-sided.

Newer 2GB and 4GB memory modules are almost all single-sided and high density (1Rx8) as newer motherboards can support this chip configuration and it is cheaper to manufacture.

You can tell if a 4GB memory module is 2Rx8 because it has 2 rows of 8 chips (totaling 16 chips) = 8 on one side and 8 on the other side. A 1Rx8 module has 1 row of 8 chips on one side only, and nothing on the other side.
