Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, can be very sensitive to this.

If you simply buy a second similar ram stick, there is a chance that it might not work properly.
DDR3 and intel are quite tolerant of disparate ram perhaps 90%

What is your plan "B" if the new stick/s do not work?

Or, you can Buy a 2 x 8gb ddr3 ram kit and be done with it.

It is almost certain that it would cost you more to buy both a new motherboard as well as ddr4 ram for it.
Assuming you plan to use your current CPU, the newer motherboard will be marginally faster that the DDR3 based motherboard. In my opinion, the small gain in performance is not worth the relative expense.

I would recommend you save your money to upgrade the CPU, motherboard, and memory at the same time.
