DDR3 ram 1333mhz showing only 667

I have a 2gb DDR3 ram @ 1333 MHz in my pc.but in CPUz it is showing only 667 .Why is that?

Double the number it is currently displaying, and that would be your max frequency.

2x667=1334

Yup, pretty much it! That goes for DDR which means Double Date Rate. The program just show single date rate, but your RAM work twice as fast as that.

You don't have to worry, if you ever increase your RAM speed, once again CPU-Z will only show half of it but it will still work at double of the number.

Yep. Dual channel RAM works in pairs. It's an effective speed of 1333MHz/

That is of course if your board is set up for dual channel. If I read your details right you have not installed the correct number of modules. If the board is set for dual channel and you only install 1 stick it will run at 667MHz regardless. You need to install 2 modules to allow the pair to work in tandem(like they are designed to operate).

You can exceed the slot's maximum amount of RAM. Without knowing your board I don't know the maximum amount allowed. It is very unlikely that you have but that limit is there.

In addition to the configuration Windows needs a minimum amount of RAM. You are at the minimum amount for Windows 10. If you play games or do more than just the basic things you need more RAM. 4GB is really the least amount of RAM I would recommend even for the cheapest and most stripped down build(PC) that is using Windows as its OS.

Not true, dual channel ram has absolutely nothing to do with the data rate of the ram. Dual channel ram simply provides the the motherboard with two separate memory channels instead of one, thus preventing bottlenecks and improving effency.

The reason your ram is reading at half speed is because ram is displayed using the DDR transfer mode: AKA double data rate.
