Hello,

I have an old Dell Precision T3600, I had a 8GB DDR3 RAM and I wanted to upgrade and add another 8 GB, I made my search online to find the compatible RAM types that I can purchase and per this website it it said I should be okay with a UDIMM DDR3 RAM 1600 mhz

.

And then I bought the below RAM:

https://www.amazon.eg/-/en/TwinMOS-.../258-9848349-1807609?pd_rd_i=B09F5JGPGQ&psc=1

When it arrived the size is very different as the the old working ram was less in height, and the new ram didn't fit as it had a different notch spot

I just need to know what exactly is the ram type/size that I would buy to fit with the old ram

That's what written on the old working ram micron 8gb pc3l-12800E

I truly appreciate any help as I'm not really good with these stuff, Thank you 😀

Micron 8GB DDR3-1600 RDIMM 2Rx8...
First of all, this data for T3600 suggests you can only use RDIMM (registered) RAM, so no way your UDIMM (non registered) would work.
Second, since you really can't mix RAM types on those machines, we need the whole RAM model number of your current stick, the "micron 8gb pc3l-12800E" is just not enough. If possible share a photo of the RAM sticker.

Your workstation original RAM, is probably the low profile with enough surface for a single notch such as this image:

Regular sized RAM MODULE should also fit, if it includes a third notch such as this sample

This type is what you've already bought, the type without the third notch, that doesn't fit your motherboard

Micron 8GB DDR3-1600 RDIMM 2Rx8 CL11
DDR3L-1600MT/s • 8GB Module Capacity • RDIMM • 2 Rank x 8 • PC3-12800 • CL=11 • 1.35V • ECC •
This RAM Module is Registered and Error Correction checking and is used in Servers. This type of RAM is said to be slower because it sacrifices speed to check for data errors.

So, if your Workstation uses NON ECC (Non Error Correction Checking RAM), that is what you should buy for best performance. The Dell Precision T3600 Workstation may use NON-ECC PC RAM or ECC Server RAM, but not with them mixed.
