DDR4 and only one gtx 1080, or two gtx 1080?

I'm planning to buy a 5820k CPU and mobo and 32 gigs of memory and only one GTX 1080,

OR

TWO GTX 1080 instead?

I am currently using a 4790k with 32 gigs memory atm.

Why do you even need a 5820k? Chances are you dont.

Unless you do any professional work or video editing etc. There is absolutely no point in upgrading. In some games you may even see less performance: https://youtu.be/eQNFr3-PUrk?t=1m4s
Also for the GPU upgrade, what are you running now, it may be worth waiting until the 1080 Ti or equivalent comes out.

I do make pretty heavy 3d rendering , programming and music production. My 4790k does simply not handle it enough.

Does your software take advantage of graphics cards as well? Multiple cards?
If not, spend more money on the processor. These are things that have to be answered first.

If you are sure that it is the CPU holding you back in these programs, and not something like your storage. Then the 5820k will be of a pretty significant benefit.

For the graphics cards it is hard to say. You could always buy one, see if it is enough and if it isn't buy another.
